Ad holding giant WPP has settled a lawsuit alleging racist and sexist behavior by ad agency J. Walter Thompson's former chief Gustavo Martinez.

The lawsuit was filed in 2016 by JWT chief communications officer Erin Johnson, who alleged that Martinez engaged in a pattern of misconduct, creating a hostile work environment that amounted to gender discrimination and a violation of her civil rights.

Johnson is receiving a substantial settlement, according to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the settlement. Johnson has resigned from her role at the ad agency, the company said in a statement.

NBCUniversal wants to reinvent the way TV advertising is sold. It is introducing a new viewing metric called "CFlight," which will take into account impressions across live audiences, as well as people viewing on-demand on digital platforms. 

Facebook admitted that 87 million user profiles were harvested by political research firm Cambridge Analytica, which is more than previously thought. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told reporters during a call that the company had made a "huge mistake" in not admitting its responsibilities.

Altice is the latest cable company trying to become a serious player in advanced TV advertising in the US. The company has made a series of ad-tech and data acquisitions over the past few years.

Taboola has signed a deal with smartphone manufacturer ZTE to create an Android rival to Apple News, The Wall Street Journal reports. Taboola is a content recommendation firm known for placing sponsored links on thousands of publishers’ sites across the web.
