A 38-year-old techie working with a leading software company at the Hinjewadi IT Park in Pune, was found hanging on Sunday afternoon from a ceiling fan at his flat in an upscale society at Marunji.
The police recovered a suicide note from the spot of the incident, which had details of the struggles the man went through. In the note, the husband before ending his life, has accused his wife, her father and her maternal uncle, alleging harassment by demanding alimony to settle false cases against him.
Case:
Assistant inspector Shashikant Dhendge of Hinjewadi police station said that the deceased’s wife had lodged complaints of domestic violence against him and that the woman’s father and her maternal uncle were allegedly troubling the man for money.
The officer said that the harassment by the trio reached a point when the techie decided to end his life.
Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the techie’s wife, his father-in-law and his wife’s maternal uncle, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s 65-year-old mother, who is a resident of Nasik.

As mentioned in the complaint, the deceased’s wife had filed numerous complaints of domestic violence against him, including a case under Section 498A [husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty] of the Indian Penal Code.
The wife along with her uncle and father allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh from the techie to settle the cases imposed on him. Dhendge said,
The techie had paid Rs 20 lakh to them. The trio kept harassing him for the remaining amount of Rs 30 lakh.
