Woman Gets Man Fired Over Rape Claim — Now He’s Seeking Justice

Despite a medical exam showing that no sexual intercourse occurred, a man was expelled from his university and fired from his internship because of a woman’s rape accusation. Now that he’s nearly lost everything, he’s decided to make her pay.

While attending a fraternity party at Syracuse University, a male student, who we will refer to as John Doe, met a female student from the co-hosting sorority. The young woman, who we will refer to as Jane Roe, hit it off with John and went with him to his bedroom late that evening, which was captured by a surveillance camera, The Daily Wire reports.

The next morning, the pair awoke with no memory of what happened that night. Although they were both fully clothed, Jane felt suspicious about their encounter and decided to head to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York, for a sexual assault examination.

The test revealed caffeine and marijuana in her bloodstream as well as a bloodstain on the crotch of her leotard. Additionally, there were two minor tears to her labia but “no internal cuts or abrasions to vaginal walls and she had smooth hymen edges.” There was also no male DNA in her vagina, indicating that no sexual intercourse occurred, the examination reports.

While most women would find these conclusions to be a relief, Jane wasn’t so convinced. The young woman reported John to the Syracuse Police Department for sexual assault. Officers investigated the claim but later closed the case due to a lack of evidence, the dismissive findings of the medical exam, and Jane’s admission that she doesn’t remember anything happening that night.

Syracuse police forwarded the investigation results to the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, which resurrected the investigation and came to the exact same conclusion. The report reiterated that there was “no credible proof of any sexual conduct in this case, consensual or non-consensual.” However, Jane wasn’t about to let it go so easily.

Determined to punish John, Jane brought her accusation to Syracuse University’s Title IX department. She explained that, although she initially had no memory, she began experiencing recovered memories, a theory that isn’t based on scientific evidence, of John raping and sodomizing her. Incredibly, the university took Jane’s claim as fact, expelling John immediately.

Jane went to John’s fraternity the next day and bragged that “her rapist was expelled,” according to court documents.

Despite being expelled from Syracuse University, John moved on with his life, enrolling at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he earned an internship at Bohler Engineering. Just when he believed his situation was improving, Jane began publicly calling him a “rapist,” an accusation that led to him losing his internship. He knew that his college enrollment was once again on the line.

Finally fed-up with Jane’s allegations, John decided to take matters into his own hands. He hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit against Jane for defamation, according to the court documents. In his complaint, John cited several instances in which Jane has used these accusations to cost him friends, business contacts, career opportunities, college enrollment, and mental anguish.

  • Jane texted John’s friends that he is a “violent rapist” and a “monster.”
  • Jane publicly defamed John as a “rapist” and claimed that it wasn’t the first time he “has raped someone” and that she wanted “to make sure that it is the last.”
  • In both a Facebook post and LinkedIn post accusing him of rape, Jane included a photo and the location of John, tagging both NJIT and Bohler Engineering so that they would see it.
  • On Facebook, Jane directly messaged Bohler Engineering, which responded by promising to “immediately terminate the employment relationship” with John based on her “allegations.” She then bragged about “feeling happy” that she had gotten him fired.
  • Jane left a review of NJIT, claiming that it was “a school that accepts recently expelled rapists, despite it being marked on their transcript.”

Fortunately, Judge Roslynn R. Mauskopf has accepted all of John’s arguments as evidence of Jane’s defamation. Still, he fears that he will be expelled from NJIT over Jane’s rape allegations.

Although Jane’s attorney claims that she is innocent of defamation because John apparently hasn’t suffered any injury, it appears as though the outcome of the case will go in John’s favor. Hopefully, the lost friends, opportunities, and sleep that John has endured won’t go unpunished.
