Johnny Depp is facing legal action after an on-set physical altercation which allegedly occurred in 2017.

Gregg Brooks, a location manager for "City of Lies," alleges that Depp punched him twice in the ribs after he was told the film's production had to be stopped for the day.

In the court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Brooks says Depp screamed, "Who the f*** are you? You have no right to tell me what to do," before hitting him.

Brooks alleges that Depp said he’d give him "$100,000 to punch me in the face right now." Depp was then removed from the set by bodyguards, according to the lawsuit.

Business Insider has reached out to Depp's representatives for comment.

"City of Lies" is a film based around the investigation into the murders of rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., and is set to be released in September 2018.

The film's director Brad Furman told Page Six in May that the incident was overblown.

"Johnny Depp is a consummate professional, great collaborator and a supporter of other artists," Furman said.

"He always treats the crew and people around him with the utmost respect. Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated. We all love stories — there isn’t one here."

Depp is also locked in a legal battle that started last year with The Management Group (TMG), who counter-sued Depp after the actor sued its principals Joel and Robert Mandel for allegedly collecting millions in fees without his consent.

The actor's former business managers revealed a number of Depp's extravagant expenses during the lawsuit, which at one time totaled $2 million a month.

TMG revealed that Depp spent $30,000 a month on wine "flown in from all over the world for personal consumption," and $7,000 on a couch that was featured on the reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
